Privacy Policy

Overview

Blah Speech Trainer ("the App") is a speech practice tool developed by Carl Stenqvist. We are committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what data we collect, how it is collected, all uses of that data, and any third parties we share data with.

Data We Collect and How We Collect It

The App collects the following data, all stored locally on your device:

• Audio recordings: Captured via your device's microphone when you tap "Start Speaking" and stop when you tap "Stop". Stored locally on your device.
• Speech history: Topics, scores, transcripts, and AI-generated feedback are stored locally on your device after evaluation.
• App preferences: Language selection, daily goal, and reminder settings are stored locally using standard iOS mechanisms (UserDefaults).

We do not operate servers that store your data. If you delete the App, all local data is permanently removed.

Third-Party Data Sharing — AI Services

The App uses the following third-party AI services to provide speech evaluation and coaching:

1. OpenAI Whisper (OpenAI, Inc.)

Purpose: Audio transcription — converting your speech recording into text.

Data sent: Your audio recording and selected language.

API endpoint: api.openai.com

2. Anthropic Claude (Anthropic, PBC)

Purpose: Speech evaluation, scoring, feedback, coached script generation, and speech notes.

Data sent: Your speech transcript, topic, and language preferences.

API endpoint: api.anthropic.com

3. Google Gemini (Google LLC)

Purpose: Voice delivery analysis — evaluating your vocal tone, pace, emphasis, and confidence from the audio.

Data sent: Your audio recording.

API endpoint: generativelanguage.googleapis.com

For all services:

• What is NOT sent: No personal information (name, email, device identifiers, location) is ever sent to any service. Only speech content and related text are transmitted.
• Data retention: According to each provider's API terms of service, data sent through their APIs is not used to train AI models and is not stored beyond the processing period.

No other third parties receive your data.

User Consent

The App requests your explicit consent before sharing any data with AI services. During onboarding, the App clearly explains what data is sent, which services receive it, and requires you to agree before proceeding. You may not use the App without consenting, as core features (transcription, evaluation, coaching) rely on these services. You can reset your consent at any time by reinstalling the App.

How Your Data Is Used

• Audio recordings: Used solely to provide speech transcription (OpenAI Whisper), evaluation and coaching (Anthropic Claude), and voice delivery analysis (Google Gemini). Not used for any other purpose.
• Speech topics and notes: Topics are bundled with the app. Speech notes are generated by Anthropic Claude based on your language and topic preferences. The generated content is stored locally on your device.
• Speech history: Stored locally to let you track your progress and review past speeches. Never transmitted anywhere.
• App preferences: Used locally to personalize your experience (language, reminders, goals). Never transmitted anywhere.

Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do not collect personal information (name, email, phone number, device identifiers).
• We do not use analytics, tracking, or advertising SDKs.
• We do not share your data with any third parties other than the AI services described above (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google).
• We do not create user accounts or require sign-in.
• We do not send data in the background. Data is sent to AI services only during active use: when generating notes or when you choose to evaluate a speech.

Children's Privacy

The App does not knowingly collect data from children under 13. The App is suitable for all ages.

Your Rights

Since all data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it. You can delete all data by deleting the App. You can withdraw your data-sharing consent by reinstalling the App, after which the consent dialog will appear again before any data is sent.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be reflected in the "Last updated" date above.
